Relationships are hard. But you know what’s even harder? Breakups. It always sucks whenever you have to break up with someone you’re desperately in love with. When you get into a relationship with someone, you always do so with the best of hopes and intentions. You always wish that things turn out for the best. You never go into a relationship with the assumption that you’re just eventually going to break up anyway. And that’s why you really invest yourself into your romances. You always want to give your all to your relationships because you know that that’s what you need to do to sustain your love. And that’s a good idea.
However, here’s the unfortunate truth: no matter how pure your love might be, no matter how good your intentions might be, no matter how much effort you put into your relationship, things still might not work out. And that’s why breakups happen. And breakups are rarely ever easy. However, you can help brace yourself for breakups if you are able to see them happening. Heck, you might even get a chance at changing your fate when you are able to see the signs of the break up; you are given a chance to prevent it by changing your ways and improving the situation of your relationship.
The one thing that you never want for yourself is to be blindsided by a breakup. Not only will you be dealing with the pain and grief that comes with a breakup; but you’ll be forced to bear with the shock and awe of the situation as well. And all of that can be very traumatizing and overwhelming.
That’s why you always want to stay on top of your relationship. You always want to keep track of the temperature of your relationship. Here are a few signs that your partner is probably going to break up with you – and you need to make the necessary adjustments and preparations for it.
1. They choose the things they open up to you about.
In the past, it used to be that they automatically go to you for everything. However, they’re slowly pulling away from you. They’re becoming more distant. They’re not so open to you about everything anymore. And they’re definitely holding back a lot.
2. They don’t respond when you try to make plans for the future.
Whenever you bring up future plans for the both of you, they don’t really respond to you anymore. They know that there really is no future to your relationship at this point and that’s why they don’t want to waste their breath talking about it.
3. They tell you that they’re not so keen on the idea of marriage.
Obviously, the quickest way to put you off to be with them would be to tell you that they’re not really interested in the idea of getting married. But what they really mean is that they’re just not so interested in having you as a life partner anymore.
4. They are choosing to spend more time with other people instead of you.
Time is only ever really afforded to the things and people that are most important to us. And if your partner isn’t spending time on you, it’s because you are slowly becoming an unimportant figure in their lives. You aren’t really being valued the way that you need to be valued in a relationship anymore. This is a definitive sign of bad things to come.
5. They seem absent and distracted whenever they’re with you.
They are no longer really interested in paying attention to you. They find themselves daydreaming and fantasizing about better situations; because obviously, they aren’t happy about being with you.
6. Your instincts are telling you that something is off.
Sometimes, you can just really gauge the temperature of a relationship by listening to your instincts. You just need to pay attention to your gut – especially when your intuition is strong.
7. There has been a substantial dip in your love life.
Having a negative shift in your love life doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing. It could be a sign of your relationship evolving its level of intimacy. However, if the dip in your love life is too drastic, then you know that there’s something wrong there.
8. They don’t engage with you when you bring up happy memories.
They’ve practically put those memories away at this point. They have been slowly checking out of the relationship and that’s why they are slowly letting go of all parts of your relationship – both the good and the bad.
9. They don’t make an effort to argue with you.
As counterintuitive as it might seem, having your partner argue with you in the relationship can be a good sign. When your partner argues with you, it shows that they’re still invested in the relationship. But if they walk away from arguments, take that as a sign of them walking away from your relationship.
